Does a foreign transaction fee still apply from the US?

Hello,

I was looking to purchase an elite with a credit card that does have foreign transaction fees. When I looked at the declined transaction (because I had to OK it first), it looked like it was in the US.

Can anyone from the US verify that they did or did not get hit with a foreign transaction fee on their card?

I did see a topic about this but it was from all the way back in 2021.

Thanks much!

If you’re using a USD credit card, there are no foreign transaction fees, it doesn’t matter what country you’re in. It’s a USD transaction, nothing “foreign” about it, there is no exchange. It’s PAYPAL doing the processing after all.

If you’re paying with some other payment method or currency, then that’s a completely different story.

Expect to pay state tax for US addresses and PST/HST for Canadian addresses.
