Does my Original series Woodworker really need a new wiring harness?

Sorry, should have stated that the problem is no movement on Y axis. I know it is supposed to be a wiring issue but nothing I do fixes it. Do I have to replace the whole wiring harness? Is this a common problem?

Is the only solution to my problem a replacement wiring harness set? I have gone through the trouble shooting for a hung up rail and cleaned out the contact points for all the axis cables and all it does is squeal at me. Yes, I’ve jiggled it too.
I guess $27.50 is not too much for a wiring harness, but there is shipping, customs fees and the time it takes to receive it. Is the wiring harness so fragile that it needs to be replaced periodically? Should I buy them in bulk?
Your thoughts on this matter are appreciated.

What kind of controller do you have?

Have you tried swapping your “Y” cables into another controller axis output to see if they can move, say, the “X” motor?

Swap the “X” cable to the “Y” output to see if it tries to move one side of the “Y”, or motor faults?

Does the Y axis move by hand?

Thanks for replying. Yes, I can move the Y axis rail by hand, both backwards and forards.

Thanks for reply. I tried switching the cables and continued to get erratic results. The connectors don’t seem to be very dependable where they connect to the rails, which seems like a weak point of the Onefinity system. I’m going to bite the bullet and order the replacement wiring harness and hope that solves the problem, at least for awhile.

Is the coupler secured?
Have you tried to adjust the stall amps?

You’re right about the connectors, they are a weak point. The pins inside can get pushed back and fail to make contact.

Seeing as there was no change in the machine’s behavior when swapping cables is a strong indicator that the fault isn’t in the cables. I’d look elsewhere for the cause. Have you checked the connection points at the rails to make sure no pins are pushed back?
