Drop down bit list in vetrics

Can anyone tell me why Vetrics does not have a download for a bowl bit or a rounding tool in their drop-down menu for adding tools? How do I draw a tool to tell vetrics what I want to load. Bowl bits would seem to be a very common tool. There is no flattening tool or round over bit either, why? 700 dollars and they still can’t list basic bits?

I have a 3/4 Bowl bit, I set it up as a 3/4 Ball Nose end mill, no issues, same for my 1-1/4 surfacing bit, I set it up as a 1-1/4" Endmill.

You can add those tools as a Formtool. (one of the selections in the dropdwon menu for bit type. You need to draw the right half of the tool and Vetric will do the rest.

Some manufacturers like Amana have tool geometry files you can download

I don’t know anything about Vectric, but in Carveco, I had the same issue. It turns out that Carveco calls this a “radiused slot drill” So I had been overlooking that drop down and wondering why I couldn’t just create a new bowl bit.

@Ken5 is correct. The bit profiles are defined by the bit manufacturers or sellers. You can download the databases from them and load into Vectric (or other CAM software).

The problem for me is that I had some re-sharpened bits in a variety of odd sizes. So I needed to create a new tool in the library manually. I’ve never seen them referred to as anything but “bowl bits” or “bullnose bits”. So I was confused that there was no option for that tool type. Just an oversight on my part. “Radiused slot drill” ? That was a new one for me. Just hoping that mentioning this might help someone in the future.
