Hi guys. I should already know this, but I don’t. I am using an Elite series Forman model.
In the middle of a long carve, I notice the tool is starting to leave some furry finished cuts left behind. I would like to elegantly change the tool without loosing my 8 day carve.
The only way I know how to do it is to pause the machine, move the spindle, change the cutter, guess at the correct length as to how far to insert it into the collet, then resume the carve hoping the machine remembers where it was.
Is there a button or a way to change a bit in the middle of a carve with out loosing position or depth?
Allen,
yes, the Masso keeps track of the line of code that you stop it on and can be restarted at that or perhaps a few lines earlier, if you wish. The use of the green and red buttons on the Masso’s lower face are for just such an event. You will still have to zero the Z height of the new bit though, just DON"T use the rewind button, or it will start at code line 1 again, not where you stopped the carve. So, once you stop the feed, just use the F3 page to jog it for bit replacement, use the probe for the Z only and once that is done go back to the F2 page and press the green button to restrart the cut. On the F2 page you will find on the right where the code is displayed the last program line number just above the code window. If it doesn’t prompt you, just select the jump to line button (right center below the code window) and it will give you a fill in number to enter.
