Dust Collection Reco

Hi everyone. I’ve been running the Journeyman for a few years now, and it’s definitely been putting plenty of dust in the air and making a mess of my shop. I guess that’s part of the learning curve. Overall, I’m really happy with the machine, but I’m now looking for some advice on dust collection. I mostly cut hardwoods (Ash, walnut, maple) as I’m a guitar builder.

I’m working with a pretty tight budget and still using a Makita router instead of a proper spindle, so I’m hoping to find something affordable that still works well. If anyone has recommendations—especially with links—I’d really appreciate it. I’m based in Canada.

Don’t have my onefinity yet wating for batch 4. But for my wood working I use a WEN DC3401 Its 200$ in canada Amazon link Or WEN Website Add a cyclone on it and it works really well.

Looks great, thanks! How loud is it compared to other options?

If you want quiet, look into Dewalt’s Stealthsonic line. Amazingly quiet and yet, still very powerful. I use one with a Dust Deputy Cyclone for the CNC and it works great.

Here is my set up. not expensive but very effective. simple craftsman shop vac with a dust deputy type separator. and a good easily emptiable barrel. The bottom picture is for clarity, and it is my second machines vac system not set up with the separator yet. I am still putting the gen2 machine together at the moment. I use rolling wire rack to mount the whole thing. It makes it easy to move and to empty when I need to.

The rack is 18x18 inches cheap on Temu or Amazon. I have a very crowded shop. It is a two-car garage so, everything is on wheels.
