Just thought I’d share a cheaper, bigger, and MUCH more sturdy alternative to that silly, overpriced, wobbly “table” that seems to be standard issue for 1F machines. Apparently blue paint is REALLY expensive these days.
These are two 30x72" storage racks from Menards. I added a few 2x4 stretchers for support and tweak flatness, then topped it with 2 (brand new) solid core doors from the local Habitat for Humanity ReStore, which were $25 each. Then threw on some leftover laminate flooring. Total cost…$250. Plenty of room on top for enclosure. Plenty of room underneath for soundproof dust collector housing and other storage. Bonus…I just need to raise my table saw a couple inches and it solves the outfeed support vs available space issue I’ve had for years. Unfortunately, I paid full price for the kitty kat.
I admire those who have made furniture quality tables for their machines but around here, aint nobody got time fo dat.
I’ll have about 24" of crosscut before hitting the back of the cnc. It’s rare that I need to cut any sheet goods and that’s usually done on a slab of pink foam on the floor with a track saw. For length cuts, there will be a swing-up back door of the cnc enclosure. Having a 48x48 cnc will eliminate most of what I use the table saw for anyway.
where did you get the slotted leg material and what is t called because i cant seem to find just the material anywhere i have looked under strut, L struts, shelving struts, and come up with only prebuilt shelving. I want t to make one custom sized to my needs
I bought mine from a local farm store, similar to Tractor Supply. It’s just snap together industrial shelving. No different than the giant racks that make up every aisle at any big box home center, although a little less massive.
By the way, they call this stuff slotted angle. So now at least I can find the stuff lol. I am going to make my own table and top for a ton less than what they sell for online. God bless onefinity CNC.
