I was doing my first 3D relief carving yesterday. The roughing portion went smoothly (1/4” end mill). The finishing portion (1/16” ball nose) started smoothly, but I stepped away for a minute and returned to a problem (see attached photo). The bit drilled through my project and the waste board and through the t-slots on my QCW frame. The bit was broken in a couple of places. It has never done this before. If you could please advise me what to do to avoid this I would be grateful.
