EP3 Onefinity CNC - 3 Must Haves in a CNC Wasteboard: Includes MATCHFIT Dovetail Wasteboard System Files FREE. Includes files for Vectric and Carveco. Sizes support Foreman, Journeyman, and Woodworker!

Good point, Ed. I was just sitting here looking at my roughed-up spoilboard and thinking “well, I guess it’s time.”

Hi. Did you ever get any feedback regarding this issue? I’m about to start cutting my wasteboard and would hate to have this problem. Thanks.

I didn’t hear anything. Follow what I did in the thread and it should work out. I can send you the toolpath if you would like. Starting depth of .375" in Carveco and run the simulation to see the taper and verify it is not just a straight slot down.

Thanks. I’ve changed the depth but I’m now stuck at the very first step, as my v-bit just bites into my probe instead of lightly touching it and going back up. The learning curve is steep, but that’s how I like it.

This type of wasteboard is great, I HAD one. The problem is when you resurface the grooves for MATCHFIT hardware get weaker after every resurfacing. That was my experience with it, it works very well if you don’t resurface the wasteboard.

Yes, when I was a newbie (or at least ‘less of a newbie’…) I was convinced that this was the way to go but learned quickly about this issue with resurfacing the wasteboard. In my imagination I’d hardly ever need to resurface it because all of my cuts would be so precise they’d hardly make any marks whatsoever. The harsh light of the real world has shown me that it’s called a spoilboard/wasteboard for a reason and chasing perfection is time better spent making cuts and learning as you go.

Finally set up my X-50 Journeyman and am trying to run the tracing file.
the first three cuts go well and then the 1F seems to think that X continues infinitely toward the front of the table. I zeroed it off of the center of the board. Cannot figure out what I’ve done wrong. Anyone have ideas about a newbie mistake I’ve made?

I had a similar problem till I followed the instruction in the setup guide that says something about manually moving the Y gantry either all the way back or all the way forward before turning on machine and homing.

I just found a video about how to fix this. Here—> Adjusting Stall Homing On The Onefinity CNC - YouTube

do you have this in carveco format because this is what came with my machine i have the elite foreman and i am lost

Hey everybody! Just a heads up - I replaced the main file in the original thread here. I made some slight improvements to the design and the updated file includes the Foreman size (48x48), with Vcarve 11.5 and Carveco files for all 3 model sizes (Woodworker, Journeyman, and Foreman). You’re welcome.

I bought the files on Etsy when you first released. Where do I find the updated files?

Thanks

First post of this forum thread!

Anyone have the carveco files for Morgan’s clamps. The file was updated but I didn’t see that the wasteboard clamps and hold downs were added for carveco. Thanks in advance

And Carveco, cool! Just ordered my Elite Foreman, so making preparations. And since the Carveco license was included, it’s what I’m trying first.

Thanks!! And please keep making videos. Love the videography, humor (my wife keeps asking why I’m laughing at CNC videos), and technical knowledge!

Hi Kirby, did you get more info on how to attach the wasteboard to the QCW. I’m still foggy on this. I saw @MorganHop mentioning t-tracks and 1/4 20 screws and nuts. Any pics to show this? Thanks

Just to clarify, the wooden hold-downs and clamp components are not part of this download? For those pieces you would purchase the “complete” file from the Etsy store. (I’m not complaining, just making sure I did not miss something in the file download.)

I’m a bit confused @MorganHop with the horseshoe clamps what is there a recess and a slot in the video it does not look like there is a recess just a through slot? And for the fence what is the bevel just a standard 45?

Thank you
Robert

Has anyone made one of these for the Machinist?

I added the recess after the video as an improvement. There’s a female version of the dovetail hardware that just has a threaded insert. The recess allows you to use those and keep the head of the screw sitting below the top surface of the clamp. I found that occassionally the knobs would get in the way of the dust boot arms.

And the bevel on the fence is 30 degrees.
