FreeCad post processor for Masso G3, in pre-release

Folks here know I am fond of FreeCad. Well, I have started to actually contribute code. My first contribution is the Masso G3 post processor.

The Masso G3 post processor is based upon a refactored LinuxCNC post processor. The only difference at the moment is in the way tool changes occur. The LinuxCNC device is getting the sequence “M6 T#”, whereas the Masso G3 want “T# M6”.

This code is running correctly on my Elite Forman with an ATC. (10 tool, tool rack). Is there anyone else willing to kick the tires on the code?

Thanks
Carl

I have a BB machine, otherwise I’d be glad to run some code. I’m getting friendly with FreeCAD, though, and appreciate your time and effort. Thank you for your contribution to FreeCAD!

Are you using the LinuxCNC post processor?

And yes I use FreeCAD for more and more, I don’t see ever upgrading my VCarve Pro.

Are you using adaptive and rest machining?

Ah, haven’t set up a gcode export profile for the BB rig yet. My Pops is still using vCarve for now.

I’m loving FreeCAD, but have only designed parts for 3D printing, so haven’t got a CAM workflow in place. That’s close to the top of my chore list. I wanna get Dad using FreeCAD so we can learn off each other.

I am quite familiar with the BB … I had a Journeyman before upgrading, it is a really nice machine.

VCarve does a good job too, but as I got into assemblies, and mating up pieces VCarve ran out of gas.

Some of the youtubers I would recommend:

  • MangoJelly
  • Open Source CNC
  • WayOfWood

If that fails you reach out.

Thanks so much, Carl!

I don’t know what I’m enjoying more - the machine, or the company of the people who use it.
