if this is your first cnc and first use of cad, we recommend using something far simpler than fusion to start out with. Carbide create or easel is a great place to start and learn the basics. Fusion is one of the most advanced CAD design software and is not too beginner friendly.
It’s not too tricky once you get accustomed to the vocab. Fusion is probably at the more complicated end of the spectrum for newbies.
Also, remember that some of this stuff you do once and maybe not again until an update comes out. There are many helpful folks on this forum with what appears to be a myriad of backgrounds which helps.
Thanks. I’ve been using Fusion for a few years now and am pretty comfortable with the CAD aspect of it. I’m pretty new to CAM though. I bought a little CNC awhile back to dip a toe in. Have been using Easel free — which is pretty limited. Anyway, I got this to streamline my guitar building so too late to back out now!
First step is just figuring out how to get my g-code into the Onefinity. I haven’t really begun doing that research.
I didn’t go back and reread the whole thread so I may be rehashing what has already been said, if so my apologies.
Select the Onefinity post processor in Fusion
Post your CAM
Transfer to USB
Open from controller
There are various and sundry post processor options (some were mentioned in this thread), but I’ve been using the basic one straight from the box with no real issues.
perfect. that’s exactly what I needed to hear! thx
Alex,
I hadn’t a clue what I was looking at either. And I figured it out pretty readily.
There is a font of information in youtube videos from Onefinity, Autodesk, and everyone who uses these products.
Once you dive into it it will take a little bit of getting up to speed, but it isnt quite as daunting as it seems.
