Help! Journeyman Homing issues

I’ve honestly never ‘homed’ my machine (granted it wasn’t a 1F, that is coming in the mail here shortly) or used a touch probe. I’ve done every XYZ position manually as I don’t always use the same ‘home’ position. Home is for the device and not the working area. What I’ve always done as well is set your X,Y and bring you Z above your work surface and 0 that out and do a test run right above where your cut is going to be. Once that all checks out bring the bit down or use the probe to set Z and there ya go. Hope this helps.

Hey Mark… This should help explain why it’s showing “over” after homing. If you have anymore questions please let me know… Help! My Toolpath says 'Under' or 'Over"! (with videos)

Found this very helpful, thank you. Great to have a quick response from the CEO, many thanks! Being new to CNC is a brave new world for someone who is not formally trained or schooled in computer language/software, engineering, or machine shop. Many of us are 60-year-old plus woodworking hobbyists know about enough to be dangerous. The forum is a great help.

Slowly getting aquainted with each function’s purpose. Homing, 0-ing; work area parameters vs machine limits; path instructions, etc. Will get there. Your suggestion to 0 right at your work surface cut is key and makes sense. I have a 1F touch probe, so that will help me do that too. Until then, got some further good advice from the CEO. Thank you both.
