Homing sensors for build botics

Hey all,

Is there a way to use Masso’s homing sensors with the buildbotics controller. I understand that only one y sensor would work since squaring wouldn’t be an option.

or are the better options, im sick of stall homing.

Thanks!

There is not. An elite upgrade would be the best option!

I purchased a set of sensors and used an old power supply from a no longer used phone. I had to create some mounts for the sensors but it all worked very well. I already had a breakout board for the spindle I had.

I’ve since upgraded to an Elite though, for reasons other than the sensors.

Hey Troy,

not Masso’s, but better ones. The buildbotics-derived Onefinity Controller supports retrofitting inductive proximity sensors to get rid of unreliable stall homing. E.g. you can use Omron E2B but also others are available. The 25-pin I/O port has pins to connect them, preferrably over an optocoupler. The accuracy and homing repeatibility is excellent (see here and here). What you still need is some means to attach them, preferrably made with a 3D printer, to be able to print these parts (see also here and here).

Unlike photoelectric limit sensors like in the Elite Series, inductive proximity sensors are not affected by humidity and wood dust.
