I Finished my New Clock

Greetings, All!

Here are some photos of my recently-completed clock. It’s a slightly modified NuLuna design from Clayton Boyer, and by far the most complex clock I’ve attempted. I’m delighted to say that it runs well, a tribute to the design and the OF machine that cut out the parts over the span of the months it took to build.

The clock presents the following information:

  • Phase of the Moon (top window)
  • Age of the Moon’s phase cycle (small window to the right of phase display
  • Day of the week
  • Date
  • Relative positions of the Sun and Moon relative to each other and the Earth, as well as their positions in the zodiac.
  • The small dial on the lower right indicates the angular displacement of the Moon from the ecliptic (Lunar nodes). This is useful in predicting solar and lunar eclipses.
  • Time of day

That is beautiful! Very nice work!

Wow. Just amazing. I’ve always wanted to try something like that.

Give it a try! A simple clock is a straightforward project, and there’s nothing like the thrill of watching it go for the first time.
