My neighbors would love me all the more if I moved my gear outside!
But then we live on a postage stamp, so we’re quite close to one another.
Some of them get frustrated when I open the shop doors on a beautiful Saturday or Sunday and start the planer or moulder, so I do try to be a bit considerate and only do that during the week, there are days though….
Ho! Boy you betcha! I’m fortunate enough to have a Oneida Supercell, but the way they get such fantastic performance is instead of a big impeller it essentially uses 3 vacuum cleaner motors (they also have one with four!, my ears beg for mercy just thinking about it), sweet that it’s modular and easy to swap a bad motor if one pops up, but boy oh boy does that puppy scream…
Hearing protection is mandatory any time it’s running.
I’d buy another one in a heart beat because it sucks like my high scho…. Nope not going there… ‘really well’. Also it makes duct layout super easy and there just isn’t any issue with static losses, but like so many things, there’s always a trade off.
Onefinity is pumping out those orders! I am patiently waiting as I was a slacker and didnt get my order in until Batch 4. I better get working my bench…
If your machine delivers via UPS, for $20 a year you can sign up for the ‘UPS My Choice’ program.
One of the features of that program is the ability to have your packages held at a local UPS Store or other company they partner with (I think in my neck of the woods its CVS Pharmacy) for no extra charge.
They also allow you to reschedule delivery dates for free, but I DON’T recommend you do that, it’s incredibly hit or miss and I’ve had packages that I’ve changed from a Friday to the following Monday due to travel show two weeks later by the time they get their heads out of their bottoms.
All that being said, I’ve had great luck with holding packages at my, fortunately close, UPS store. When it’s held at a UPS store there are no weight/size limits I’ve run into, sometimes at a CVS hold they have limits, which makes sense.
For that matter, the truck stops at the UPS store usually around 9-10:00 a.m. and generally doesn’t make it here until 17:00-18:00, so if I’m really impatient for a packages I’ll have it held and run over and pick it up.
As a complete side note, it’s is nice to see someone else print the manuals out. (I even put mine in a 3 ring binder, but not a TrapperKeeper®, because I’m not fancy). As much of a nerd as I am with electronic access to all of my manuals and what not, I still find it so much easier, especially during assembly, to have a printed document.
but remember I also have my Masso elite right next to this one and I am still making clamps with it, itis nice to have a dedicated machine for the job. the gen two will me mostly for wood and 4th axis carving.
It should be there before I get home from work then I can shuffle it into my “garage” and then we leave so hopefully can work out. Thanks for the info, never paid too much attention to the ups thing but for $20 a year probably worth it.
@OnefinityCNC just an FYI somehow the shipping label had the wrong zip, so my machine is delayed in shipping….this actually worked out for me since it would have shown up while I was out of town. However there may be some “Karen” that loses their mind over it, posts a YouTube series about it, then buys an Altmill and then makes their life hell for a little while. Sorry that was some forum PTSD.
