So I’ve been using the Makita routers - now I see Onefinity is partnering with RedLine… I’m thinking about the 1.5 kw air cooled.
What’s the benefit of the spindle? I hope it will be quieter than the router… I assume so. But in terms of power - I assume it goes to 24k rmp, will this let me increase my speeds?
Or what other benefits/considerations. Would appreciate knowledge from folks.
the main difference is that with the hand trim router, either you have torque, OR your have speed. You never have both at the same time. However for millling wood, you want high speed and high torque at the same time, so the router is not ideal.
Another difference is that the speed of the Makita is the approx. speed with no workload, and it is then slowed down by the load (and gets hot).
A spindle is not slowed down by the load (only minimally). And it delivers constant torque over its entire speed range.
