Has anyone else experienced flickering with the 44W laser on an elite machine? Mine seems to be related to the frequency compatibility between the Masso controller and the J Tech system. When I increase the Masso frequency above the recommended 4 kHz the flickering speeds up. The rate of flickering also seems to change the longer the laser runs and in some cases ends up almost going away (I’ve had it where this change occurs in the middle of a job) but the power is lower than it should be. When I fire the laser from the safety board it doesn’t flicker, it only occurs when it’s being controlled from the Masso.
Machine - Onefinity Elite Woodworker
Laser - J Tech 44W
Reason I’m posting here is that I’ve been waiting for J Tech to acknowledge/respond to my support email for most of a week.
When I turn on the laser at low power, it turns off right away, even though the control says its firing. Then it comes back on as soon as I start to jog manually. Also, it does flicker when firing at higher power. I noticed it last night when I turned it on and left it in one spot when doing a “How long does it take to burn through” various materials test. However I do not see any degradation or anything when I do photos. I didn’t think anything of it until I read this post.
I have a jtech 7w by the way…
I’m not sure this is relevant to your issue, but I’ve had problems with the connections between the controller and the power supply, when I took a dental tool and forced the female ends of the connectors inward slightly and then re-connected them the problems I was having went away. (My router and vac were not always functional) Whether it be vibration or just loose connections I’m not sure, but the issue I was having seems to be fairly common and since making the adjustment, the problem is gone.

Have you tried the test code at the bottom of the Masso Laser Setup?
I think the 7W and 44W both use the same safety board, so I suspect its something related to that at this point. This is the second board I’m on as the first one didn’t fire the laser at all.
Update - Got in touch with J Tech today, they are sending out replacement parts, I will update once I get them installed and tested.

JTech sent me replacement safety interface and the daughter board in the laser itself (thanks Shane!) with those installed it appears has resolved the flickering issue (and it fires below 20%!).
