Lubricating the rails

What type of lubricant if any should be used on the onefinity rails?

Mark,

Standard 4 in 1 oil is what OneFinity recommends.

is 4 in 1 different to 3 in 1 oil ?

Amazon and the usual suspects for purchase:

However, I am not a fan, coming from mills and lathes - I used oil infused with PTFE for linear rails and dovetails:

Good to know. I have some of that super lube in the shop and love it. Good stuff.

Has anyone used a dry lube on their rails and ball screws?

I searched but did not find any discussion of it on this Forum.

Dry lube would not attract dust.

There are many suppliers, some have PTFE in them others do not.

I have not used dry lube. OF recommends 3 in 1 oil. I suspect any good lubricant that does not break down the bearings would work fine.

I used that on my Shopbot and use it on my CNC plasma. It’s cheap, works and doesn’t cause gumming or attack the non-steel parts. Just blow out the leadscrews and wipe things down every once in awhile to keep things clean.
