I’d like to request that the USB Link indicator be solid when a good connection exists between the head unit and the motion controller.
From my perspective, items that change in a user interface should convey valuable information. Having a steady indicator readily demonstrates that there’s a good link as well as a blinking one, and the blinking doesn’t add that much more information.
This may only be a issue for people like myself who find irregularly blinking objects and sounds distracting.
It actually detracts from the intended message. Blinking indicators usually do so in order to draw attention to something you need to deal with. “Working normally” isn’t something that needs attention by the operator. Initially I thought it was blinking because something was wrong and I had to fix it.
Anyone who ever had an old school VCR without automatic time update knows this
Ahhh… the good old days after a power outage during a lightning storm, running around the house, resetting all the clocks… the Microwave, the VCR, any other plug in digital clock. (hmmm… maybe this is WHY I have agita looking at blinking indicators, now that you mention it?)
Thats how our generation became tough I tell you! No automatic clock updates based on the radioactive decay of a atom a cesium retrieved from a time server across a global information network, no siree bob! You got off your duff and pressed them buttons!
To be fair, it kept you in shape to be the remote control when you were forced to leave your comfy bowl of popcorn to turn the knob and tune the antenna every time your parents wanted to see what was on one of the other two channels! (Dammit Dad! Read the TV Guide… it came free in Thursday’s paper circular and you KNOW Knight Rider is on channel 3 and Airwolf is on 8 on Friday nights, sheesh)
Your points are well taken. I have added this to our development task list to investigate. It might make more sense to have the indicator flash when disconnected.
