MASSO Axis Setup Problem: Will NOT Move!

I can not get my G3 Touch X-axis to move! I’ve re-checked the wiring, settings, etc. for weeks!

I downloaded and installed the MASSO G3 Beta program for running Axis Test.

Step Test Results (DVM Red Probe + / BLK Probe - ):

Step A: Differential Mode (+ Probe + STP / - Probe - STP)
Step A: 3.88 VDC
Test PB
Step B: - 3.88 VDC

Step C: Single-ended (+ Probe + STP / - Probe G3 GND)
Step C: 4.14 VDC
Test PB
Step D: 0.25 VDC
Should I have expected - 4.14 VDC or - ? VDC?

Step E: Single-ended (+ Probe - STP / - Probe G3 GND)
Step E: 0.25 VDC
Test PB
Step F: 4.14 VDC

Is this normal or possible axis failure?

I can inject a function generator Square Wave Signal directly into the Axis Motor STP +/-, and the Axis moves. So, the axis drive appears to be OK.

So, what’s up?

What are typical Axis Setup values?

  1. My X-axis 1210 Ball Screw Pitch ‘Distance per Rev’ = 10 mm with X-axis Gantry workable movement ~ = 523 mm from L to R).
  2. What about the Travel Minimum & Maximum for the above ball screw? Should the Minimum = - 523 or 522, with the Max at 523?
  3. X-axis drive is a iHSS57 setup at 2000 micro steps per Rev. Reasonable? Does the drive internal optical encoder (1000 slots/rev) dictate the G3 Axis Setup Pul/Rev value? I think not, as that has to do with Axis Positioning, not Pulse Rate per Rev . . . but hey I’m confused these days!

Suggestions needed as I am about out of ideas!

Happy Holidays to All,

Billy
