Dealing with a unique board that isn’t quite level. I broke up my carve into sections which worked pretty well for the bigger parts. Unfortunately the text which was smaller has some dips and has barely taken anything off in some parts. What is the best way to fix this issue. My machine is still on, job is still loaded.
If I use the lower point and probe then rerun is it going to mess up the text that has already been cut?
It already was. What I’m finding very strange is when I go back 10 lines or so and start the project over the job isn’t remotely close to the same location. Any idea why it would be doing that?
Vcarving is tricky with anything other than dead flat stock. Your wood may also be shifting, naturally, while on your bed. Doing small areas at a time is prudent (re-zeroing z each time); I have that milling self rolled silver with tiny end mills.
I have heard that some people’s systems can probe a stock’s surface for height variation and then adjust gcode signals accordingly (a bit like some 3d printers), but I have not seen anyone on this forum achieving it.
I think you are going to have to break your text into idividual or small groups of vectors and reset the Z height for each section. use the paper method instead of the Z probe perhaps cut a lesser amount and gradually decrease the z offset re running the section until you get the result your looking for.
