Manual on updating

1: New Rotary button on home page to enable or disable rotary.

2: When pushing the rotary button on the home screen, a new pop up will come up reminding users to 'push the power button/turn on the Rotary Splitter box (the box should only be on when rotary is in use).

3: New Probe settings on settings page for the built in probe on the Rotary. (probe block is for normal xyz probing, Probe rotary is only for use with the built in probe block on the rotary).

4: When Rotary is enabled, you will now see an A axis on the main home screen (which is the rotary axis).

5: When rotary is enabled, the jog panel bottom rows change to allow for jogging of the A (rotary) axis left, right, and return to zero. The ‘probe’ button changes to ‘probe rotary’ and will give you two options when pushed with a pop up: Probe XYZ (for the built in rotary probe) or Probe Z (for the built in rotary probe).

6: When probing XYZ for rotary, the popup asks for your Endmill cutter diameter (not shaft) of the endmill you are using.

7: When finished with rotary, push the rotary icon on the top of the main home screen to return to normal cutting operation. Please remember to turn off the rotary splitter box or your Y rails will only move at 1/2 speed.

Reserved for Onefinity #1

After upgrading, the many, many folders and cutting files on the sd card seem to be gone. Were they erased, hidden, relocated?

What is meant by “Probing Optimization?” I had issues this weekend with setting my XYZ point. I connect the probe and base and start the program to set the XYZ points. It checks Z correctly, then goes the right side and checks X. However, when it goes to the back and comes forward to set Y, it keeps pushing the block forward. I hold it with my hand, but it keeps pushing until it has an emergeny stop.

Do you think the “optimization” fixed this issue?

Thanks!

Welcome back web cam. The latest 1.6.2 restored my web cam which was missing after the previous update.

@OnefinityCNC - I just updated and now I can’t find any of my files that are loaded on the machine? Clicking the download file does download the one I ran last and I can run that file, but I can’t see it or any of my other files on the main control screen.

Is there any alpha or beta firmware more recent than 1.6.2 to try?

Just updated now no wifi
I have an ethernet cable hard wired no wifi

It finds it, ask for password After putting it in it reboots still no wifi

@GregoryG sorry this doesn’t really help you, but it’s worth noting, I use hardwired ethernet with 1.6.2 and it works fine for me.

Yes I have an ethernet cord running from controller to wifi box
Still nothing

do you have an ip address displayed?

It would say not connected
Iam wondering do you still suggest

@OnefinityCNC what is the next alpha or beta firmware? Is there one right now to try out? I can’t find it

There currently isn’t one. 1.6.2 is the latest firmware.

The release notes for version 1.6 state that the xyz origin is persistent across shutdowns?

I may be doing something wrong but I can’t seem to make this work.
when I restart it goes through the homing process and the XZY origin is not set.

seems I have to probe after each restart?

Mike

Home your machine, then hit the xy origin button

I did that, first homed the machine.
Then used the probe to set my xyz origin.
I then restarted the controller, homed the machine, then tapped the button for the xy origin. The machine never moved and the xy origin was not set.

UPDATE, This morning(Sat) I was just going to shut down the machine to replace the current mSD card with a fresh one with 1.6.2 on it and I saw this error screen.
Once I hit reload interface lag was gone.

So I am doubting it is mSD related.
Will have to see if it comes back, and if same things happens.

Anyone else have slow interface issues?
Seemed to be fine last week.
And start of this week, until Wednesday.
Shutdown yesterday, no joy, same issue after starting back up.
Nothing has changed in the process, and files I uploaded have a total of run time of 7-ish minutes.
Short vid how interface is responding.
It’s not just selecting a file the whole interface seems boggy/laggy.

@Sawdustmaker that lag looks frustrating! Sometimes pi computers will throttle cpu speeds if they are overheating, you might want to double check your controller fans are working and not blocked with chips/sawdust. It could also be your micro sdcard going bad, those don’t last forever. If it were me, i’d pull up the controller web interface from another computer and make a configuration backup from the Settings > Admin > General menu. Make sure to “keep” the downloaded files, sometimes the browser doesn’t like saving the files.

My controller is away from the dust, Just upgraded to 1.6.2 abut 2 weeks ago and blew the little bit of dust out before I changed to the new mSD card with 1.6.2. I have a few new ones left, can’t hurt to flash 1.6.2 on another one and see. Thanks for the troubleshooting idea. Though it may take a couple of weeks to see if it is the real fix, done it’s taken a few weeks to get this slow.
