Test Procedures
Collet Nut Clamping Torque
- Used the ‘first movement’ test method.
- Tests replicated 10 times for tool assemblies.
- Two sets of tests: 4 endmill sizes and six ¼” endmills.
- RapidChange ATC Desktop App settings: Load RPM 2400, Unload RPM 2600, Engage Feedrate 1900 mm/min, Number of loading plunges 2.
Endmill Movement/Security Between Tool Changes
- Tool offsets measured before and after tool changes.
- Combination of O-rings and Onefinity’s tool retention system used.
Effectiveness for Real-Life Machining
- Tool offset values measured before and after machining.
- Adaptive clearing toolpaths created to machine rectangular pockets.

Results, Observations, and Conclusions

- Maximum torque: 28.9 Nm
- Mean torque values for six ¼” endmills: 21.58 Nm, 21.26 Nm, 20.21 Nm, 22.95 Nm, 15.21 Nm, 21.67 Nm.
- Mean torque values for 1/8”, ¼”, ¼”, and 3/8” endmills: 15.17 Nm, 16.8 Nm, 14.95 Nm, 17.25 Nm.
- Endmill Movement/Security:
- Minimum offset difference: -1.46mm
- Maximum offset difference: 1.42mm
- Most differences less than 0.5mm
- Mean value: -0.025mm
