I am upgrading to a 80mm spindle, so I need to upgrade the X-axis as well or will the original setup work?
From following the forum for quite some time, most are using 80mm spindles successfully on the stock X axes of Machinist and Woodworker. Some are upgrading to the X50 versions stating they are more rigid, although my request for quantitative evidence/data supporting this has yet to be answered.
I have an original Woodworker, and will be receiving my new spindle in about a month - I will let you know the results.
I don’t mind upgrading if it is needed and helps with the quality of what I am doing.
