Onefinity wifi is crap

In my shop i have several machines on wifi no problems they all work great. Onefinity on the other hand is crap. Works on the odd occasion. Sick and tired of running back and forth with usb. When i upgrade my cnc it wont be Onefinity because of this one problem

Hey Steve, don’t let it get to you. Everyone has this issue, and it can be hit or miss with Wi-Fi. The fact that the antenna is in a metal box doesn’t help. The manual for the CNC says to have the modem within 10 feet of the controller, which is probably done by less than 5% of everyone who owns this.

But there are work arounds. I use a Panda Wireless USB adapter, and it works really well, or at least better than nothing. It isn’t made anymore but it looks like the replacement is this one on Amazon for $30. Before giving up on what you have, maybe give this a shot. Take your frustration out on making something new, then show it off to everyone. Hang in there Buddy!

I’ll give that a try. Is it plug and play

Yep. It’s plug and play

I use a range extender
but take it one step further. My range extender has an ethernet port. It is plugged into the same outlet that the 1F controller is plugged into. So I run an ethernet cable from the wifi extender to the controller along the power cord ( and no - no EMI issues with that at all ). There is constant reliable connection to the network that way as long as the range extender is getting the signal.

You do have to turn off wifi on the controller for this.

The access point (UniFi UAP-AC-HD) in my shop is about 10’ from the Masso Controller and it is basically worthless at even that distance. Has any one tried to see if a USB to Ethernet adapter would work with the controller? I have been thinking to try this and see if it would be more stable.

Well i bought a range extendor plugged it in right near controller and is now working fine.

@BrokenLimb I, exclusively, use ethernet on my controller to connect to my computer running Vcarve and it’s a flawless connection. Haven’t tried the usb to ethernet connection, but it’s great running straight ethernet.

Masso hardware does not support this - the USB interface does not provide this functionality as it will not connect a host device.
