Recently Onefinity introduced a braking motor option for the Z-axis however there is no option to order an elite series machine with this motor included. The only option is to purchase a standard machine and an additional motor (at full price) and then swap out the vertical motor. Just as there is an option to upgrade to a stiffy rail and a 65 vs 80mm spindle mount, have the option to order the braking stepper motor on the vertical axis. Since the vertical axis can drop when the power is lost when a larger spindle is used, this presents a safety issue if a person had their hand below a sharp bit, I would consider this a standard item on larger elite machines and have the option of a non-braking motor.

I just ordered an Elite Journeyman and got the braking motor with it. I figure I’ll use the spare non-braking motor for a 4th axis someday. But it would have been nice to have the option.
