Any chance this is also standard on Z20 upgrades for the BB controlled machines? Your spindle offering is causing me to bite the bullet on the Z upgrade. This week is already going to cost me about $3700, so not buying a separate motor that saves an 80mm spindle from crashing down would be nice.

Now I really need you to not tell my wife how much I am spending!

There is not a brake option for non-elite machines.

Well that answers that. I pretty much ignored all the spindle and Z slider talk up to this point since o wasn’t looking to start experimenting with random spindles.

If Onefinity knew this was going to be an issue why didn’t they just install the braking motor on all Elite machines. Had mine a year now and am buying the new 80mm spindle and mount and also have to spend another $138 on a new motor to prevent damage. What am I supposed to do with the old motor? Just let $100+ just sit on a shelf.

It’s only an issue with spindles. Onefinity didn’t support spindles on their machines before now. Now that they officially support them, they make sure the machines are built for it.

Hey Curt
Keep the old Z motor as a spare part for when one of the other motors fail.

Well, at least you would have a spare motor in cast the one of the x or y motors went out.
