There is some AMAZING work on here. I ordered mine a month ago and am waiting for it to even show up on the order numbers. I’m hoping to be able to learn a software and machine operation enough that I can make something besides a square…which would be the stock I started with LOL!

The order info page says they’re not going to update the chart with orders anymore. For a Journeyman you should plan on 10-12 weeks from when you ordered it and not be overly surprised if it’s 16-20 weeks based on this year’s experience so far. For a WW it looks like maybe half or two-thirds that. They may have caught up to their latest schedule (which is a month + longer than what they projected when ordered) but if history is a guide, they may fall back again as they did a couple of times this year.

Hey Jim
Thanks for the heads up. One would think as many times as I’ve checked it I would’ve noticed that note. Based on that info, it could be here for Christmas but will be here when it gets here. Never have been much good at patience.

Cheers

They didn’t make it the highlight of the page :slight_smile:

Very true good sir. :grin::grin:

Based on the lack of schedule slips over the last month you may get lucky and be good for Christmas. Then if you’re like most of us, you can sneak out of work for a few days and get it set up and cutting before the new year :smiley:

I figure I hope for the best but prepare for the worst. I’m often happily surprised but rarely disappointed. With all the stuff going on in the world, a delay in getting what for many would be out of reach, seems like a very 1st World (and even 10-percenter) problem. I’m still not patient but I do try not to go batsh*t crazy about things. I hear that’s good for my blood pressure :slight_smile:

Definitely a 1st world and maybe a 1% problem. I’m off the last 2 weeks of the year so hopefully it shows up, if not I’ll build something with the shop full of tools I already have.

Had a huge perspective shift 4 years ago. Diagnosed with leukemia, had bone marrow transplant, 86 days in the hospital, 2 year recovery, beat leukemia, tried to die twice. I think a few weeks delay in getting a toy I want and don’t really need is not going to change the course of overall life for me. Love your viewpoint. Keep the blood pressure down. You’ll live longer I hear.

Good to hear you made it through that. A friend of mine had a similar diagnosis 3 years ago. Stage IV Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma but he pressed on anyway. Went through his treatment and they’ve said he’s only got to wait the clock out (5yrs) to be officially ā€œcuredā€ but otherwise he’s back to normal. Except we both have a different attitude. He’s like family and what he went through changed some of my approach to life - I’m spending way more time with my family and trying to do something good for my corner of the world. Doesn’t stop me from being an analytical engineer trying to parse out information from limited data in order info charts though :laughing:

Same here. Just had my 4 year check ups and basically got told I was a ā€œnormalā€ human, whatever that means, and to go see my pcp. They won’t tell me I’m ā€œcuredā€ until the 5 year mark post transplant next December. I’ve been with the same company for 32 years and they treated me well during treatment but my perspective has definitely changed. I have 3 kids, 3 grandkids, 3 dogs, and the same bride for 32 years. I try to live each day to its fullest. Same approach…trying to be a kind human in the midst of it all. Don’t figure I was healed to add to the pile of knuckleheads or to just breathe free air

These are some of the table place cards I made for our Thanksgiving day dinner(I made 5 total). We are all relatives and it doesn’t matter where anyone sits but it’s fun to make something for people to take home with their left overs. I’ve made something for every holiday party this year, gotta come up with something really special for Christmas.

What would you carve for the vegetarian and vegan family members?

Just as there are no Atheists in foxholes, there are no vegetarians or vegans at Thanksgiving dinner.

I could use the same method with basswood. First stain the wood black then a couple of coats of shellac and then carve some mashed potatoes. (I finish with a coat or two of lacquer). Everyone’s other ideas are good too.

Hi all. So I’m trying to carve a functioning QR CODE on wood and I am able to do the carve but it’s not being read. I painted the wood black before I started so the carve would be light. I ran the project, it physically looks like a genuine code but I’m missing something. I’m using a 90° V bit on pine. I have not tried various depths yet. I think I was a bit shy of 1/8ā€. Perhaps that’s too deep? Any advice at all?

Does it work if you print it? I wonder if the 3d nature is an issue
