Can someone tell me what the red and green buttons on the Masso controller do?
The green button is cycle start and the red one is feed hold.
thanks where is that in the manual cause i have not seen it anywhere?
I’m not sure. When I got my machine, I assumed that’s what they are because I maintain industrial CNC equipment that all have a green cycle start and red feed hold button. I use both buttons and that is what they do.
Comes in handy when running a file that I’ve manually edited for the first time. I put the program in single block and can watch the spindle with one finger on the cycle start to step through the program and another on feed hold just in case. I find trying to use the touch screen without watching it rather difficult.
Well once again thank you. I have yet to load a program so I have not yet had to press either button in anger lol. I am installing everything I can. next up is the ATC whenever that gets here. I am reading and trying to understand everything I can before I run a program. Hey, I have another question for you. when I touch the screen button the says start spindle it runs but very slowly. Is that because there is not program loaded telling it what speed to run at? When I press the side button for manual running it does just fine, but I never got a straight answer about why when not in manual mode it runs so slowly. Thanks for your time.
It’s because the controller hasn’t received a speed command yet. Pressing the spindle forward or reverse button only gives a direction command (M03 or M04).
Try going into MDI and entering s6000 and then hitting run. Then when you press the spindle forward button it will run close to 6000 RPM. or in MDI you could just enter S6000 M03 and then press run.
In the location where you find the MDI button, Feedhold button spindle CW, etc… buttons, theres a blank button in the top right. This blank button is intended for you to click on it, and manually enter a spindle rpm.
Enter an rpm, then press spindle start, and the spindle should spin up to your desired speed.
Works just like entering the S command in the MDI, but a bit faster.
