Ridges in carve

When I run a test carve in MDF my smooth numbers and image have flat ridges around the edges. I’ve tried a few times, changing the smoothing in Vectric each time, but always the ridges.
Here’s what it looks like in Vectric.

Here’s what it looks like in MDF; notice the ridges.

I created the model in Blender if that matters.
Any ideas?

Are you using multiple bits for this carve?

My first instinct, based on the photo, was that (1 or 2) your selected bits, differs in size in the real world, versus what it says in your software. Or the angle or taper, or nose size is off.

To me, it looks as if 2 profiles are being carved, hence the thought.

Edit; or an inside/outside vector, toolpath related issue.

I was replying and checked my toolpaths for the 20th time and realized I had it with an 1/8" bit instead of a 1/4" bit for my roughing pass. I appreciate you asking me the right questions; thank you. Man, I looked at it so many times. :face_with_peeking_eye: I’ll set it up and run it again with the correct roughing path. I’m happy.

Awesome! Glad To hear it was a simple find and fix

Yup. That worked. Now I can run it off larger in mahogany. I’ll paint this one silver for kicks to see how it looks.
