Slow cutting with 44w JTech - Tool Configuration Issue?

It’s my understanding from the demo videos that a 44w can cut 1/8" plywood at 30 in/min?

I’ve been cutting 1/8" plywood for several small projects and have been unable to reliably cut faster than 9 in/min at 100% power.

At 10 in/min or faster it doesn’t cut completely through on one pass all the way around.

The power level control seems to be working as I’m able to engrave although I haven’t tried any photos as of yet.

This make me wonder if I have a configuration issue.

I’m using Vectric Aspire with the laser module on a OneFinity Journeyman

I’m using 1/8" baltic birch from KJP Hardwoods. It measures 0.126".

I’m using a honeycomb grid and air assist from a 55W / 90 LPM VIVOSUN Air Pump with the JTech supplied air line.

Please confirm the proper “Tool Configuration”.

I have mine set to tool-type “Laser (J Tech etc.)” tool-enable-mode “lo/hi”.

I remember reading/seeing somewhere something about changing PWM settings before I received the laser but I’ve been unable to find it.

Any help would be appreciated.

I don’t have that particular laser, but I do know at some point the laser power (aka “max spin”) range changed values from 0-255 to 0-1000. If your software or post processor is setup for the old values you’d only be using 25% power like I was when I first setup my laser.

Thank you for the suggestion.

Initially it appeared that I was using the incorrect max power setting in the Vcarve/Aspire laser module.

I tested by creating gcode files with different max power settings in the Vcarve/Aspire laser module and they were all identical and included S1000 for the power command.

Based on the YouTube live from a couple of nights ago I need to confirm that my lens is clean on the laser.

I’m confident that I have used air assist every time as I’m paranoid about that but it’s possible something accumulated during shipping or testing prior to receiving.
