Soft Alarm Errors

I’m curious if others are having the same issue. I turned my machine on today and loaded a toolpath that I’ve run many times on the machine already. Zero’s as normal for my surfacing bit and when I hit run, it made it 12 lines, started to lower the router then hit a Soft Alarm Z slider.

I cleared, re-probed z and again the same.
I had to disable soft limits to allow the machine to move down to the surface of the board.

After that toolpath ran, I re-enabled soft limits picked up my second toolpath, switched bits, probed z and up pops the soft alarm again. This time I restarted the machine and tried again, but it continues to throw the error code. I don’t like disabling the soft limits. Anyone else have this situation and figure it out?

Since you say the error is in the Z axis, is it possible you have inserted the bit further into the collet than on previous runs of the same program?

My bits were set at their normal depth in the collet. The alarm goes off about an inch above the spoil board and i can manually move the z slider down after I clear the error.

Maybe check your z programming as far as on the wasteboard vs ontop the surface.
If you can manually jog to the depth, that’s what i would check

I left on a business trip this morning but I plan to follow the Masso steps and reset my soft limits to see if that takes care of it when I get back.

Well I’ve not had any luck resolving the issue. I’ve reset my soft limits on the z axis as -6.000 and 0.000. My program is looking to go to a depth of -0.03.

The machine thinks it’s running at -6.3858. I’ve zerod the machine several times but it believes it’s plunging too far.

Any advise is welcome.

Are you able to share screenshots of some of your settings? Also, saving and sharing your calibration settings file may be helpful.

I reset my soft alarms to 6.3. I’ll get pictures tomorrow when I have time to run a few jobs to make sure it worked.
