Spoilboard flattening

Hi there,

Newbie here. So don’t hit me if the question seems a bit strange.

I could only find 18 mm MDF sheets for my spoilboard. Hence I am going to put 2 layers.
First layer will stay there,
the second layer will be my real spoilboard with T-tracks and all.

Now,
I want to flatten the first layer, but I don’t want to do a program for that.

Question :
Can I flatten the spoilboard by jogging the machine by hand with the pendant ?
Or is there any real contreindication of doing so ?

Yeah thanks I suppose you are right. I
didn’t think of writing the gcode myself.

I don’t have a licence for a CAM program as of yet.
And I wanted to get my spoilboard ready without having to spend dough on any CAM program.

but doing for a simple path like that, I could do it

Just a couples of G1

Thanks for the input.

Yes it’s an elite.

You mean by using the Masso controller ?
I have come across some thread talking about that.
I have to dig a bit more.

The Masso has a built in conversational just for surfacing, look in the conversational tab.

Hey Thomas,

yes, you can, and many with the buildbotics-derived controller on Original/X-50/PRO Series do that because it has a gamepad, but on the Elite Series with Masso G3 Touch controller, you can also follow Pat’s advice with the conversational wizard.

Hi Thomas – fairly certain you can get the gcode you need from free version of Carbide Create or Easel. That said, the only thing that really matters is the top being flat – no reason to flatten the first sheet if you’re putting something over it.

Secondarily, I would mill the slots for the t-track using your CNC. That will guarantee they are perfectly parallel (or perpendicular) to the machine. I’d also recommend adding a grid as well for easier alignment of stock.

Hope this helps.
