Stall current after adding limit switches

I’m going to add limit switches and I’m wondering what I should set the stall current too. Part of the reason for doing it is the Z axis lead screw is hard to clean and it’s kind of touchy to get the stall current set right. When the lead screw has recently been cleaned I have to drop the current down slightly or it’ll ‘bounce’ and not see home. When it needs cleaning it sometimes sees home too soon. I might have missed it but is there a maximum amount that it can be set at (not that I would want it that high)? Should I just d trial and error slowly bumping it up until do have a problem?
