Tool path width

Not sure if this is the right place for this but here goes. just started trying to learn the design process using carbide create. this is my question, I am trying to cut a zigzag grove in a piece and I need it to be a certain width. I can not figure out how to do this. I am sure it is a simple process and I am missing something so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Greg - is the width of the “zig zag” larger than the diameter of your bit? If so, you need to use a pocket operation (oddly called a contour in the version of Carbide I have, then you select pocket from the options). You need some sort of closed area that you can pocket. The geometry will define the size of the channel. If you are drawing with polylines then you need to slide the node ends on top of each other, select both the lines (left click drag), and click the join operation. There are probably other ways to do it as well. It’s a lot easier in Fusion IMHO, but…

Thanks I will give that a try. I will be using a 1/4 endmill and the pocket needs to be slightly larger then that.
