How much would it cost to upgrade my Journeyman to a 48x48 with masso? It looks like it would be $3,575 with the IPP discount (Masso Kit & Rails)? A complete new system would cost $3,973.75, is that right?
I haven’t double checked your numbers but that does seem about right. It’s always a better option to try and sell your existing machine and buy new than to upgrade. But depending on where you are that might not be very easy to do.
I tried to make the dollars and cents work out as well and I just couldn’t. It’s a bit frustrating but the way to look at it is that it’s a great thing you even have this problem in the first place. If you had any other hobby CNC you wouldn’t even have an option to upgrade. At the least the path is available, even if it doesn’t make sense financially.

I was in the same boat. It was more expensive to upgrade the older machine vs just buying a new one. I’m actively trying to sell my entire original set up
