Using the Toolsetter with Redline Controller | Quickstart Guide
If you don’t have a Toolsetter, you can purchase one here:
The following steps assume that you have properly installed and enabled the Toolsetter and that you have set a Manual Tool Change location.
This @Redlinecnc YouTube video shows how:
When you start your machine, be sure to “Home All” first
- Verify that the tool number in your spindle matches the tool number displayed on the screen. If it does, go to Step 5
- If the tool number on the screen does not match the tool in the spindle, then from the Main Screen, select “Tool”
- Select “Tool Change” and then select “Override”
- Enter the Tool Number of the bit you have in the Spindle and press the checkmark
- Once the Tool number on the Screen matches the Tool number of the bit in your spindle, Measure the Tool. Go to the “Tool” tab from the Main Screen, and then select “Tool Setter”. Once on this screen, select “Measure”. Your spindle will move to the toolsetter and will measure the tool.
-
Once all the above steps are completed, load your file and then probe XYZ.
-
If the tool in your spindle (and on your screen) is the first tool in your toolpath, it will begin carving after you select “Start” from the “Run Screen”. You will be prompted on-screen for each subsequent tool change.
-
If the tool in your spindle (and on your screen) is not the first tool in your toolpath, you will be prompted to change bit. Follow the on-screen prompts to move to the Manual Tool Change location, change the bit and then continue. Your spindle will move to the Toolsetter, and then begin the carve. You will be prompted on-screen for each subsequent tool change.
HINTS:
- Always home your machine when you first turn it on.
- If the last tool you used is left in the spindle, the controller will show that same tool number on screen when you start up your machine. (Tool number on screen should match tool in spindle).
- Measure the tool before probing XYZ for your project workpiece.
