Vacuum pump for Vacuum Table

I own an X-50 machine and have built a 32" x 48" vacuum table for it. I am using a Festool CT15E as my vacuum pump but it is not up to the task. It overheats and cuts out.

Does anyone here have a recommended vacuum for this table? I need to get this sorted ASAP.

Thanks,

Jim

This is what I use for vacuum templating. I’m doing router templates (from acrylic) and wouldn’t go smaller than 12cfm which is why I got this.

Not sure how you built your vacuum table, but maybe this would work? A vacuum cleaner isn’t going to hold the vacuum or run long enough without overheating like you’ve found with the Festool.

Jim, how many hours do you have on the pump? Just interested in a medium to long tern review.

Thanks

Thanks Jim. I took a look at this but I don’t think it will work. Wish it would as the price is right! I Use my vacuum table to hold my waste board in place and not so much as a work holder so the VEVOR pump will be underated for what I need. Thanks for replying though!

Hard to say but I would guess 200 hours.

Only a couple of hundred. I create templates for things I want to cut out of acrylic and pocket air channels in them. Then place the template on the material I want to route to shape (usually 5/4 or 8/4 stock). I pull the vacuum and it locks the template on the stock. It works fine for large templates - like the parts for Adirondack chairs.

I got the process from Izzy Swan. He used to sell the parts needed for making vacuum templates like this but I think he retired from making & selling stuff like that.
