Vacuum Table build with Controlled Zones

First Post

Just thought I’d share my vac table and works great. It utilizes 3 zones with 2 vac ports per zone. there are 3 ball valves to shut off the zones so you aren’t trying to hold down areas where your work piece isn’t touching. Within each zone one of the ports can be shut down to increase suction. The system was made with 2” pipe and fittings. Remember to seal with paint or clear coat all of the cut grid lines and around the vac ports because MDF when sanded or cut allows air to flow through those areas ( Thanks Michael B. ) Currently using 6 peak hp shop vac which was laying around and just ordered a 220v vac motor model #122178-18 and gasket from www.centralvacuummotor.com there is a 110v version as well. There are 4 quick pics, my total cost minus vac $275. Questions email to ptdcorp@comcast.net

Nicely done!

Do you have any problem with the plumbing test caps bowing in? Also since they’re so thin, I’d imagine they would crack fairly easy.

Ingenious using a wiring nut for a handle! I’ll have to remember that one.

The thin plastic ones are for keeping the non used sections free from dust. The red metal ones are used when plugging off one of the 2 vac ports in the same active zone

Wire nut handle is the cherry on top.

YA a cheap way to make a dust protector for the ports not being used. The red Metal plug is used to make a solid seal on one of the ports on a zone being used.
