I have tried a number of ways to best exhaust the smoke and fumes from my 24 watt laser. I recently purchased a 3D printer and bit the bullet on learning how to design in CAD software so that I could make an attempt at coming up with a “dust boot” which would resemble and function like the SM Dust Shoe available from Onefinity which I already have. Here is what I ended up with. There are 3 parts which are the arm, boot, and exhaust line adapter. Magnets hold the boot to the arm and the exhaust adapter slides over the tube on the top of the tube at the end of the arm. So far, this setup is working quite well. You may notice that the slit in the boot to accommodate the air tube. An AC Infinity inline duct fan is used to exhaust the fumes and smoke out of my garage through a vent that I added.
I went ahead and created an arm for use with a 64 w laser based on William’s 3.25” dimension as I don’t know what the dimensions are or how far the laser extends beyond the front of the spindle or laser bracket. I also created an exhaust adapter for a 2.5” clear flexible dust hose. If someone could provide more precise measurements for the 64 w laser, I could adjust measurements to ensure adequate clearance for the laser.
Thanks,
Chip
