What happened to my machine?

I had my Onefinity Elite Foreman and PWN CNC 2.2kw water cooled spindle working almost perfect. Then! It started weirding out on me. I’m trying to make some plaques for a Firemen’s Golf Tournament and when I do 3 at a time, the farther it goes the more it messes up. The toolpaths are merged, so they’re all the same. The first plaque is pretty good, on the third one the tapered ball nose is barely touching the wood. I have trammed my spindle and re-surfaced my spoil board. The spoil board is perfect level, long ways, side ways and both angle ways, the Onefinity is perfect level, X, Y and B axis, and the Onefinity is on a QCW Frame. Please can someone tell me what happened before I run out of time on getting these done. Edit: I’m using the Masso G3 Touch controller.

Depending on the orientation, either X or Y axis is slipping.
Check the coupler on the motor and ballscrew

I’m still new to the CNC world so please don’t take offence to more questions. Wouldn’t the step up as the bit moves toward the end be a Z axis issue. Please educate me on how X or Y could mess with the height.

I think I’m lookjing at something different.
I’m looking at the outer edge of the pocket. One side is all wavy and the top edge is straight.
Maybe if you post the file we can look for errors

The file is over 30mb. I can’t upload it. It’s the 3d cut and the recess. It’s like it gets shallower as it goes.

I don’t use Aspire but check the zero plane on the model. It might be tilted.
If it is you should see a gradual change in cut depth.
If its only in one part. It’s possible you have a hidden layer stacked on top.
To rule out the machine, just create a simple pocket and check cut depth from side to side.

Maybe 1 other simple check you could do is set your bit real close to the surface of the 1st carve then slowly move to the other side and see if the material is indeed flat. If its warped then the bit would show more space.

I have done the pocket test, .25” over 36”. Using calipers it is perfect. I have laid my project out horizontally instead of vertically and it’s still doing the same thing. I decided to use the same bit (tapered ball nose) and clear the whole project with it instead of doing a recess clear with a .25” downcut end mill. It’s like the X rail slopes when going horizontally. And it’s like the Y rail slopes down when going vertically. This is driving me nuts. I have looked at, re-designed my project, and done everything I can think of. I’m at my wits end. I have uploaded the file I’m having trouble with. Vetric Aspire v12.507. Please help.

So like I said I don’t have Aspire so I can’t open your file, but you ruled out the machine with the simple pocket. So it must be your file.
Firstly did you create it or was it purchased?
If it was purchased it might not be on the zero plane (see below)


I know Aspire has more functionality than Vcarve but the principle is the same if your model has a flat bottom then it should line up with zero plane exactly if not you will have some of model below or above the flat surface of the cnc
