I got a PS4 controller and a USB dongle. Haven’t tried it yet. Can’t see anyone else mention this, but it should work, shouldn’t it?
I use an XBOX 360 controller on mine. I run a wired one because batteries and charging is inconvenient.
i bought this and have no Z axis control off it, anyone know why
Have you tried cycling through the modes on the controller? There are 3 if memory serves me (I have an Elite machine now so its been a while) if you look at the manual that came with the controller you can go through each mode and one of them should control all 3-axis with zero issues… Provided you got the right model number.

It says press and hold for 5 seconds.
But it just starts flashing and never changes any other modes.
Old one use to cycle through them.
Sounds like they either sent you a different model. Or maybe somebody bought it and returned it. I don’t know. Did you get it on Amazon? If you did, is it still returnable?
If it is and you’re interested, I would sell you mine which works great and I have a 3D printed wall holder for it as well

U returned it no problem to Amazon.
I have a degree in electronics I took it apart and fixed my old one.
Works better now than before.
