XYZ home location after probing

from my understanding when using the XYZ probe, the X and Y zero are centerline with the router bit used to zero. is there a way to have the bit move to the outside of the material or would it be just easier to add half the diameter of offset in Vectric?

The work zero (xyz) is the reference point for all of the G-code. You can manually set it anywhere you want without using the touch probe. The machine knows nothing about your material size or placement. It will just follow the G-code instructions. Is there a specific reason you want to set x-y zero outside the corner of your material?

I haven’t tried this, but here’s an idea: When you do your XYZ probe, select a bit twice as large as the one in your mill. That should move your bit completely outside the material for XY origin.

I’m still not sure what the reason is for moving your zero from the actual corner of your material. But if you really need to, then here is a simple way.

  1. Use your probe to set your zero.
  2. Jog your machine to the position where you want your zero. If you want it 1/8" left and below of the material, jog to (-0.125, -0.125).
  3. Zero out your X and Y at this position.
