Hey Jason,
are you talking of X axis?
And the X ball nut is still difficult to move when detached from gantry?

Yes it was the X axis. It was very difficult to turn by hand. Taking apart and re-oiling all of the bearing assemblies (I aslo did the Y axis ones for good measure) has relieved the tension. Iām now wondering if this seems like normal behavior for that level of dust build up.
Hey Jason,
you wrote that you clean the machine with air from compressor, you donāt use a dust collection system?
Oiled mechanics are generally not compatible with any amount of wood dust. Since wood dust immediately mixes with oil to a dust-oil mix (which is difficult to see) I donāt think using compressed air can be enough to avoid building-up dust-oil mix, since it canāt remove dust after oil sucked it up.
Thatās a good amount of buildup. Definitely need to flush that out with oil via the ball nut cleaning video and it should return to normal.
We have a dust boot and collector on it but the CFM is not strong enough to keep up with the waste. Iām scouring the internet and local ads for a better dust collection system.
Yes Sir, just had those arrive last night.
