Z-20 (Heavy Duty Z-Slider)

Time to involve Onefinity support as this is not performing as advertised.

I appreciate your help and yes I have read all your links and performed everything I know to other than adding limit switches.
I assume my Buildbotics controller and wiring are ok as the Z16 slider worked perfectly.
I am operating the CNC in the normal orientation the the Z20 and X50 Pro are sold as.
The X50 Pro inc. Z20 is sold by Onefinity without limit switches
The Z20 was sold as an upgrade to an X50 to X50 pro (I have also added the high torque motors).
I am reaching out to Onefinity support to see if they can replace the motor and/or Z20 as it appears to be not fit for service.

Hey Avbates,

I’m sure the forum will appreciate to hear how the issue was solved!

Scratch all that, no machine issue, my error…

UPDATE - I spent a day or so working with OF Support, sending videos, receiving suggestions including removing the X rail motor (also high torque) and trying it in the Z20. It homed successfully 5 out of 5 times so OF are sending me a replacement Z20 motor to try out. More news next week when it gets here.
Thanks agin to OF support for all their assistance.

Wow!! @Aiph5u . Those settings for the Z motor are very different than what was on my 1.3.0 install.

My Motor 3, Z is currently:
travel-per-rev = .03937
min-soft-limit = -6.2992
max-velocity = 275.5906

Your recommendations:
Z-20 “Heavy Duty” default settings for motor 3:
travel-per-rev = 10
min-soft-limit -160,
max-velocity = 7

I can’t believe there is that big of difference. I don’t remember changing anything other than the stall current. I guess it makes sense that the Z max velocity doesn’t have to be very large (as it’s really just the max plunge rate). Shall I change everything to your settings?? Hmmmmm…

That’s mm vs inches…

Oops, my bad. I assumed the config files saved in mm by default. Duh.
Thanks,
Mike

I have the same settings and have Imperial selected, so I guess the question is are those settings that Pony has correct for mm?

As per @JohnD and his question: What are the proper Imperial units?

Imperial
travel-per-rev = .03937
min-soft-limit = -6.2992
max-velocity = 275.5906

Metric
travel-per-rev = 10
min-soft-limit -160,
max-velocity = 7

Shouldn’t that be 0.3937?

… and .2756 for max velocity?
