Z height does not seem correct

Hello All,

I am trying to mill a one inch piece of stock. I always seem to have problems with stock great than .75. I after fight with the machine to get zero on the stock, when i try to mill a .5 pocket it nearly goes thru the whole dang thing. I already wasted much wood, any help to trouble shoot would be great.

I should also add, that if i stop the project and it was zeroed, i try to re zero the Z and it says i am off, on the same piece of wood…grrr

First things to look at is to make sure you have it configured for the right Z-axis or the number of turns it makes may be off. After that look at electrical faults, maybe a loose connector, or EMI issues. Lots of discussion on this board around those issues.

Make sure you"re setting zero on top of the material surface in the material set-up page, in V-Carve Pro and your setting the material datum point to the material surface. That will prevent gouging into your material.
Are you using a probe for xyz ?
