Constant disconnect of usb drive (Masso) (solved see faq)

well you not what I find very funny about this whole thing and maybe nobody gets it. Is all the usb drives that have given me problems in the Elite work perfectly fine in my X50. and all the computers I stick them in. So if it was a bad usb should it not work in any thing I put it in. but they also work if I plug a usb extension in the masso control in the screen box

Would that indicate the problem is the short cable used from controller USB to the port on the outside of the Touch case? If so I believe Onefinity or Masso could help confirm this, then offer a remedy - not involving an extension out the back.

Well I put a ticket in to one infinity on this issue. and have not received an answer back. And I am the club member left to teach the other club members how to use it. and someone else is listed as the purchaser.

I would also share the issue in the Masso forum to see what support their suggests. In the meantime, although not ideal, it looks like having the drive connected directly to the controllers USB input whether on its own or via a different cable works.

everytime I have a USB drive that is not recognized stably somewhere,

  1. I first Iook into the syslog for status messages if possible
  2. I put a USB Hub with a separate power supply in between and look if this helps.

During this conversation mine had also disconnected. I followed onefinitys advice and submitted a ticket to Masso as instructed above. Masso got back with me same day, asked a few questions along with short instructions. I answered said questions and followed instructions next day. They replied same day with a solution of sending a new cable.

Pretty straightforward and perfect customer service if you ask me…

Masso mention there was a batch of these cables that did not perform as expected. They are shipping new cables to onefinity to distribute. But you need to create a ticket with masso first. My issue was resolved in 2 days and mostly that was me not answeing my email quickly. They were waiting on me not the other way around.

That is great news, and one reason I chose Masso as my controller a few years ago when I bought my Onefinity CNC. Even with the time difference my experience on the forum has been next day responses as well.

Well I got something yesterday

Well it must be cause I am not the purchaser just the guy assigned to getting it running, guess having programing experience pays off ???

I found the blue USB stick that came with the machine gave me all sorts of disconnection headaches. Switched to a different USB drive and have not encountered the problems. Fingers crossed…

Same as me. The USB stick I had disconnected, so I changed to a Sandisk one and all is good with the world. 190+ jobs without a disconnect, touch wood!

i thought the same thing - then the usb drive that didn’t give me issues started giving me disconnect prompts recently - i have had 3 so far on the ‘good’ one in the last couple weeks. granted not the every time i breathed on it like the last one, but seems to be a degenerative issue for me. luckily i have a new cable coming that im sure will fix it.

Where is the Cable coming from

The email i recieved from Masso said they were sending to onefinity to distribute.
Timeline currently unknown.

ok maybe they will include one to our club.

I bought a male to female USB 3’ cord. So much easier to use have had no problems. about 4.00 on Amazon.

Oh that is what we are using now. my point is this should not be an issue.

And Jason at onefinity is taking care of it for me.

Yep… spent 3 days farting around with my USB connection with the Elite (3 cables, 3 different USB drives, tracing connections, etc )… a problem exists, obviously… Stopped my machine several times in the middle of a job… Cost me time and money… someone has to step up… Opening the panel to install the USB into the main board is NOT acceptable. Just saying!

See the solution above. Create a ticket with Masso. I was having the same issue and they are sending a new cable.
