Unresponsive Masso Touch Screen

I know this has been covered before, but would love to know if there is ever going to be a permanent real fix for this.

I love my OneFinity and its Masso Controller.

The only gripe I have with the Masso is the random non responsive touchscreen.

I just got back from Office Depot with another set of 3 32gb usb 2.0 flash drives.

Previously I was using a 128gb usb 3.0 that was properly formatted to Fat32.

After reading Masso recommends only 32gb usb 2.0 flash drives, I figured I might as well try it. Thinking to myself (it’s not going to make a difference)

And of course, It did not.:sob:

First boot up with new flash drive, Frozen Touch Screen.

UUUUGGG!:man_facepalming:

If I leave any flash drive out of the slot prior to booting up, it works fine ,every time.

I did just remember I also have Logitech wireless keyboard dongle plugged in. It is also USB 2.0

So I unplugged it and will see if anything changes? Not holding my breath.

I don’t think the keyboard is causing the issue, because if I leave the flash drive unplugged at bootup, with keyboard still plugged in, it works fine.

Even if it leaving the keyboard unplugged solves the issue, (which I highly doubt) what is the point of having 4 usb inputs if you cant use them?

My Masso has the newer v1.3 usb slot.

I also tried bypassing it by plugging flash drive directly into the Masso, which didn’t help.

The Most annoying part of all of this was prior to figuring out the flash drive issue.

I was forced to reboot multiple times to try to get it to connect, while doing that, every time you power down, even though it has the upgraded Brake Stepper Motor, it would drop down 1/4” to 1/2”

Doing that 4 or 5 times in a row means I have to un-clamp my project to move out of the way, or take the tool out of the spindle, or risk damage to either the tool or my project.

Are Massos usb ports under powered? Or is there something else going on?

My main fear is one day I will turn it on with the flash drive unplugged and the screen still doesn’t respond…..
I sure as hell hope that never happens!

Masso support would be the best place (and their forum) to get assistance with your Masso issue!

For anyone with the same or simular issue.

I did figure out by leaving my usb dongle to wireless keyboard unplugged until after Masso is booted up. It works every time.

So after trying everything in previous post, I thought maybe the keyboard dongle is the culpret? But if I do the same with the files flash drive, leaving it unplugged with the usb keybord dongle inserted, it still boots fine.

My conclusion is that the masso (or maybe just my Masso) doesnt allow two devices plugged in at the same time. Unless for some strange reason there is some unkown conflict with the two usb devices I happen to be using. They don’t play nice together?

In the end, for now I just plan on plugging my files Flash drive into one of the usb ports on the inside of the Masso behind the panel, and then leave the external usb port empty with keyboard dongle unplugged until after Masso is booted up.

I do plan on eventually getting a Pendant Jog controller. Maybe at that point I wont need the usb keyboard and all will be fine. (Hoping)

I found my original Masso-supplied USB stick to have been the intermittent loosing Z-height between jobs problem for 6 months, by changing it out last week. I also updated to the latest software version 5.13 with the introduction of the new 32gb USB stick. So, your USB-related problem makes sense, as does the workaround. My Masso now works well for me, with my 1 USB setup.
