Day 3 of 2024 release week! Welcome to The Revolution! Onefinity CNC's official 4th axis rotary!

I’m assuming that fusion will work as well?

Paid version with rotary add on, yes fusion will work.

I assume that to use the rotary with the BB controller you must use one of the Y axis. Is there a way to stop the Y axis from moving when it’s not plugged in?

Never mind. I just read the official announcement saying it uses a splitter. Nice. If one already has sensors for the Y axis does the splitter also split them? I don’t think it would be a big deal if it didn’t. A simple switch that could be toggled while homing would work. Or just going back to stall homing on the Y axis would work as well.

It looks like they provide a breakout box for the Y-axis for the BB controller…

Would someone be able to respond to my initial questions because most of them have not been answered yet and I’m sure other people would like to know before pre-sale monday?

Yes, the arbor/mandrel is removable but not standard size. A normal tail stock arbor wont fit.
It’s a 9.9 mm hole
Yes, it comes with rotary riser blocks
No dimensions or drawings yet. We’re getting through announcement week, then will work on getting all this info out in the near future.
No, the rotary will come with a preinstalled motor. A spare motor is a great thing to have on hand now that you have 5 motors on the machine. The worst is when one may go out when you have a deadline!

For those of us who have more specific needs like steb centers, Morris Tapers, collets etc, will a good way be provided to adapt these?

Will a model be envisioned where the chuck is a through, or hollow shaft so the servo is either beside or under the chuck.

(Edited)

At this point, they won’t work and no adapters are planned. But there is always the features request section! We always look at that!

What cheap CAM options support 4 axis simultaneous motion? Looks like vetric has some large limits with the type of files you can use? (Wrapped surface only, no mesh or solid models)

I haven’t found cheap CAM software that can do 4-axis simultaneous toolpaths. Real 4-axis CAM software is prohibitively expensive.

The cheapest option I’ve found is DeskProto, which will allow 4-axis indexed toolpaths. Way more toolpath options than Vectric.

Revolution…you say works with Vectric, specifically V-Carve Pro?

I see it’s about $50 to add laser software to Vectric software.
Can the Revolution and Laser work together?
For example, laser engraving on a mug or water bottles, cylinder objects, etc. or highlighting a 3D figure.

yes they can! We recommend Lightburn for the laser.

Any details on how this will be mounted/secured to the work surface/area (for those with QCW and no-QCW)?

Thanks

What length and diameter material will the revolution support on the X-50 woodworker?

21 length, around 7 diameter depending on z slider type

I bought it in March 2022, not sure what Z slider type I have?

Quick couple of questions.

  1. Is it safe to assume you can do 37 1/4 with the Journeyman as well as the Forman?
  2. Will the QCW version work for the original QCW that was sent for the Journeyman. I believe there was a change to the slat separation on the ends to make it more like the Forman after I already took delivery of mine.
  3. If not, is there a cheaper upgrade to the new spacing versus doing a complete replacement? As I have the same question related to the Air weights configurations.

Most likely the z-16, so less, more like ~5" or so.

  1. yes, it’s the same.
  2. yes, it’s the same mounting points.
  3. not applicable, but, you can just screw it to any table with the holes in the ‘feet’.
