So I upgraded the shop vac to a more quiet one
It’s a Dewalt Stealthsonic.
It’s rated at 65 db and is much quieter than my old Shop Vac
It’s also about half the price of the Festool.
love the double bucket idea. I used this for mine but i am sure yours was much less expensive.
Available on amazon of course. not set up in this photo
set up in this one with dust deputy been working perfectly for almost two years now.
I think it was about $20 all in
yes mine was considerably more
Nice set up.
I love the double Homer bucket!
I’m curious how the motor on the vacuum hold up over time. Please update and let us know in the future. I’m thinking vacs are designed for a longer duty cycle than say, the motors in a screw gun, but wonder how they’ll do if you get into longer carves?
I used the old Shop Vac for 3 years and my longest carve was 5 hours. It still works just noisy. I think the key is to clean it daily. My dual setup with the HD cyclone does help on filters but you still need to clean them regularly.
Costco has a great deal on the Dewalt until April 5
I got mine at Canadian Tire on sale for $40 off list price.
I have a Craftsman 5hp canister that could be thirty years old and when you turn it on I highly recommend hearing protection. I just got this DeWault and the difference is amazing. I’m not even sure I need hearing protection while doing a carve anymore.
