Elite series storage when not being used

I want to purchase an Elite Jorneyman. I have a couple of questions.

I have a small workshop - 10’x16’. In the back left corner I have reserved space for a Onefinity cnc. I have a couple of ideas for non-use storage. Not sure how valid either is. I am still working out the specific details of construction but, here are the two basic rough concept ideas:

  1. Use a power winch and unistrut based platform and lift the cnc straight up (so cnc is sitting level) to approx 7’ aff. Using unistrut wall bracings and trolleys i can have 2 sides supported and locked into position while being lifted by the winch. The cnc will remain in it’s natural flat position, just lifted straight vertical up.

  2. Fold up on unistrut trolley wheel system such that it is stored vertical on wall while not in use. a winch would assist in pulling one the far edge up while the near wall bottom edge rotates. The cnc would be then held in place vertically against the wall until next time of use when winch would slowly let the edge down to horizontal position.

Thoughts? Think either of these would work?

In my unprofessional opinion, I’d go with the option of lifting it straight up. It would put less pressure on any of the stepper motors if it was ever left out of a “storing” position. Just make sure you have a good torsion box table and triple-check the lifting hardware.

@paulparker5858 what solution did you end up going with? I am trying to figure out storage myself and was just chatting with 1F support and the vertical storage with the elite I guess is a no-go due to the closed-loop stepper motors (per 1F). I had planned on a flip cart style setup but alas that’s a no so was thinking much like you a hoist and overhead.

Cheers,
